About Me

Welcome to Life in STEM. My name is Meghan Halloran, and I am a biomedical engineering (BME) PhD student at The City College of NY in Manhattan. I am originally from the ‘hub’ of biotech companies, lovely New Jersey, and I still reside there. My current research focuses on the use of naturally-derived polymer based hydrogels for a variety of soft tissue repair applications.

I completed my undergraduate education at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, where I majored in BME as well. I love to hike & spend time outdoors, cook, and hang out with my dog, Blu. I have always had an interest in the STEM field, but never knew what I would do with it, or if I was “smart enough” to pursue it. My goal is that this blog serves as a reliable resource for information, tips, and guides to being (or considering if you should become) a PhD student, graduate student, or even undergraduate in STEM! I also hope it makes the field more approachable, as it is all about the effort you put in. Finally, I hope to use this just to share some thoughts on current and interesting science. Hope you enjoy! 🙂
